For Those Un -Familiar...
"When you're here,
you're Familiar..."
Find Familiar Games is a brand new play-focused, community-built game store opened June 1st, 2025 in Mt Vernon, Ohio.
Our dream was to create a game store that is focused on games and the people who play them. We want gamers in our community to have a safe “third-place” to hang out with friends, work on homework, and play their favorite games with other passionate fans.
We want to empower and educate local creators by providing tools and resources to elevate their content. We want to give back to the community through free events and gaming tournaments.
We want to focus on what makes a Local Game Store special, not what makes the owners the most money.
Familiarly Asked Questions
What Does FFG do?
Our storefront is focused less on diversity of product, and instead on the games and playing them. We have regular events for everything from Magic, Flesh & Blood, and Pokémon to Smash Bros, Jack Box, and Rock Band. We try to focus on making the customer experience memorable for all the right reasons. Our storefront exudes whimsy, and our play area is a gamer’s dream lounge, paying tribute to a wide range of interests and hobbies. We are an official Wizards Play Network retailer, an official WarHammer and Citadel retailer, and an Official GEM Flesh & Blood retailer.
What makes FFG special?
Our storefront is half the size of our play area and features no bloat, just games and the accessories for playing them. Our play area has an abundance of tables and chairs for all sorts of tabletop gaming. We have gaming PCs, and consoles from nearly every generation with screens to suit them. We have a rentable streaming setup featuring a range of cameras, lights, and programmable Stream Deck. We have a range of classic and new plastic instruments and a full e-drumkit for Rhythm Games on our 13 ft Projector Screen.
Can FFG do preorders?
We have some pre-order options available. Through Alliance Entertainment we can pre-order Video Games (including special editions), CDs, Movies, and Vinyl Records. Our policies for this are still being ironed out as we seek to identify flaws in our process. We can preorder items from Games Workshop. We can not currently confirm preorders for Trading Card Games as stock is based on allocation. The earlier we can be notified of your interest in a pre-release item, the more likely we will be able to get your request delivered on-time.
We have a request form on our Discord and Here on our website for you to request pre-orders.

…and some things we typically don't carry (Store Credit 40-60% of our sale price at our discretion) :
- Action Figures
- Vinyl Records
- D&D Miniatures
- PC components and accessories
…and Bulk trades at $10 per 1000 bulk up to $30.
Can I sell art at FFG?
Most definitely!
We love working with local creators to showcase their work! We offer local creators shelf space (at our discretion) where instead of the traditional wholesale model where creators sell their work to retailers at 50-60% of retail price, we offer a consignment model where creators pay nothing for the space with just 20% of sales going to FFG.
Anyone interested should reach out to us in-store or at findfamiliargames@gmail.com Attn: Consignment.

Why the Rhythm Games?
Guitar Hero and Rock Band were very much a moment in time. If you were alive and aware during that brief explosion you can likely attest it was a weird and wonderful era for gaming creativity.
Band-style rhythm games are a unique cooperative/competitive gaming experience designed to mimic the sensation of playing music together. There's some sort of primitive caveman-bond that forms as everyone is gathered, banging on plastic instruments and listening to music. We treasure that bond and enjoy seeing it formed on a daily basis with new players.
We have nearly all of the classic games, and instruments to play them on legacy hardware, but we also have the latest instruments, a full e-drum kit and a Clone Hero library of nearly 10,000 songs featuring a growing selection of Store-Exclusive Clone Hero charts.

We are super excited for our friends at Scraps Community Studio celebrating their grand-opening tomorrow! They’re opening at 11am (Saturday, March 14). We hope you will all consider stopping by to check them out! Scraps is a new business coming to the Find Familiar Plaza focused on Arts, Education, and Community. They have art from local artists available for purchase, resources for making art, a huge backroom with tables and space for creating, and so much more. The owners were behind the Christmas Shop we got the pleasure to be a part of last holiday and came to the rescue in our time of need on Pokémon day to host the Trade Day! They are also helping to establish Recycling and a Community Garden in the plaza! AND… from 6-10 they’ll be moving festivities to their backroom for a rave-style Blacklight party with a live DJ! As a result, we’ll be soft-closing at 6 to join the fun for a bit. The back room will remain open as usual but the shop will be closing 1 hour early at 6. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating their big day! - - - - - - - #Scraps #Grandopening #Blacklight #artgallery #Painting #Crochet #shopsmall #smallbusiness #supportlocalButton
